No one knows yet… Ginny intends to write these character's stories, one year at a time, for as long as she is able to write. She is passionate about bringing history to life through historical fiction. Since she is amazingly healthy, that could be for a very long time! She doesn’t like stories to end any more than you do. This one won't end for a very long time!Review: As a follower of this series, I was intrigued when author Ginny broached the subject several times about Granite's age. Before this book was released I wondered how much time Carrie's best friend had left as a character. Although still unanswered, I see we were traveling along the same thread. I find the whole KKK issue interesting and appalling at the same time. Having lived through the troublesome 60s and beyond, I am surprised that we as a nation and as a society are no further along in our racial development than what's portrayed in the 1800s. Makes my heart ache. As always I recommend this series. It's wholesome, I will assume mostly historically accurate, and it makes a reader think about their biases and family indoctrination relating to those biases. Thank you Ginny Dye for being such a positive guide during this period of history.Review: Ginny, thank you. You are writing a series I don't think exists except for you. I fell in love with learning the truths about slavery and the civil war through historical novels. They stick with me more than ready a straight history book because I can emotionally connect with the characters.Of all the series and books I've read, this is the only series I know of that continues beyond the end of the war and into the real issues of reconstruction. I don't believe enough attention is given to this pivotal point in our history. The political corruption that took place during this time created the Jim Crow era and another civil war that silently raged for a continued 100 years. Still to this day African Americans suffer from repercussions of this sorry history. The main characters in this story represent what we could be if we chose to be better human beings. . I will choose to remember grace and compassion.Book Misty Shadows Of Hope (#14 in the Bregdan Chronicles Historical Fiction Romance Series) Review :
I am so sorry to have to discontinue reading anymore of the Bregdan series. I have read each book, waiting patiently for each one to come out. The previous book, the author began to veer from her other books, introducing a storyline about homosexuality. I wrote to the author in hopes she would stop using the series to be a platform for her to keep promoting her lifestyle of homosexuality. She wrote back that through her research, she found that during that time period she was writing about, there indeed were homosexuals and that she felt justified in writing about them. Ok, touch on the subject and move on. But instead, she has once again used the series to continue her dialogue to justify her lifestyle and her stance on the subject, weaving it into a storyline of one of the characters introduced earlier in the series. It really does sadden me to see this happen. I wanted to give the author another opportunity to get back to writing the story she first started out writing with lots of rich history about the times past but I had no idea that it would take such a turn that is so far from the authors original writing. Like the storyline about the Indians, it took most of a book for the author to complete her thoughts about that but that was that. She hasn't felt the need, nor is there any need, to revisit it. But in this instance, she just can't seem to move away from the homosexuality issue. I'm sure there are other writers who write books about homosexuals. If I had an interest in such things I would find authors that wrote on the subject. But this series is not the place to be doing it. I am very sorry to say but this will be my last book in this wonderful series. Ginny touched on homosexuality a few books back and I thought she would be finished. But, she has brought it up again with Lilly. She is dead set on justifying homosexuality by comparing the lifestyle being unacceptable as a woman doctor is unacceptable during that era. Those two topics are totally different comparisons. Homosexuality is a moral issue. Well, Ginny, there is one very important rule you left out that was very understood and believed at that time. God's rule overrides man's rule. Man can justify all he wants as to the way he sees things in his eyes, but God is the ultimate ruler and judge. Read up on the history of the Bible!!! Of course you didn't even mention that. The Bible was very widely used and referred to on moral issues. I really do wish you wouldn't have tried so hard for this to be such an important issue and topic in your books. I like what one reader said, "mention it and go with history." I don't think homosexuality was the biggest problem in that era!!! One reader lost.
